NBHA WA07 Rules
Last Updated: October 13, 2005
************************************************************************************
To earn and maintain points, a competitor must be a member in good standing of the NBHA and district WA07. Members who fail to renew their membership within 30 days of their expiration date will forfeit any accumulated points during the competition year. NBHA WA07 members will accumulate points in their district only during the competition year.
NBHA WA07 members who compete in sanctioned events within their district may earn NBHA points in more than on class. The Open 4D, Youth 4D and Senior 4D classes. Points are earned by horse and rider combination within NBHA district WA07 giving the member an opportunity to place on more than one horse in a competition year.
Divisions determined by time brackets, not by order of finish. In the Open, Youth and
Senior, the fastest time of a contestant in the class, whether or not a member of the
NBHA determine the time brackets as follows:
1st division-Fastest time in a class and those who place in the division.
2nd division-Fastest time in the class plus one-half second and those who place in this division.
3rd division-Fastest time in the class plus one second and those who place in this division.
4th division-Fastest time in the class plus two seconds and those who place in the division.
NBHA WA07 points will be awarded in all classes and divisions on a 5,4,3,2,1 bases for 1st place through 5th place among NBHA members in that competition district only, regardless of the number of entries or paying places. If two or more riders tie, the points for the tied positions should be added together and divided equally among the riders who tied. Should less than five horse's place in a division, NBHA WA07 points will be awarded beginning with five points for first place.
NBHA points will not be awarded for any run during which a contestant knocks over a barrel.
Competitors may enter more than one class. For example, competitors in the Youth 4D or Senior 4D classes may also qualify in the Open 4D class.
Competitors may ride as many horses as they wish in each class. However, the competitor with multiple entries will receive points only for the highest placing horse rider combination in each division.
At co-sanctioned shows, each district's members are given their points separately. That is, the highest placing in the 1-D rider from each district gets 5 points and so on.
Awards NBHA District WA07
There will be three classes of competition as follows:
Open (Open to any rider other than Peewee)
Youth (18 years of age and under) as of January 1st of the competition year
Senior (45 years of age and over) must be the age of 50 to compete at World Nationals and Regionals.
Awards will be given to the top division winners in the Open 4D, 2D, 3D and 4D. Additional awards will be given to the OPEN TOP 10 point earners for rider and horse combination from all divisions. TOP 10 point earners will be determined by all of your points added together from all the Open 1-4 divisions. *See Injured & Sale of Horses Below
Awards for Youth & Senior will be awarded on a High Point 1-5 adding all points from the 1-4 Divisions. If the Youth & Senior contestants want to get sponsorships for belt buckles there will be buckles given to each division winner. Also if Youth & Senior contestants want to get sponsorships for a saddle, we will also hand out a high point Youth or Senior saddle. The Youth and Senior points will not be kept on horse rider combination which this is a change to the 2006 points season. Instead the points will be kept on the rider with horse 1, horse 2, etc. So the highest placing horse each time goes to the horse 1 points, and the next ones go to horse 2. This way a Youth or Senior can ride any horse and have it count towards their high point. *See Injured & Sale of Horses Below
All ties will be broken by most races attended and then if there is still a tie we will go most first places.
Each member will need to attend 6 NBHA WA07 events to qualify for year-end awards. (Just remember the more races you attend the more points you can earn).
Races to qualify for WA NBHA State Championships:
Each member must attend 6 NBHA host or co-sanctioned races to qualify for state.
Rolling of times:
Rolling of times will be allowed at NBHA WA07 events at the time of entry but you may only roll your time to the Youth 4D or Senior 4D in the same race. You will NOT be allowed to roll your time to another race, for example if we have a double header you must run in both races.
*Injured Horses:
If a horse becomes injured and can no longer compete for the rest of the points season. The rider may opt to ride another horse and the points will continue to accumulate on the injured horse.
*Sale of Horse:
If you sell your horse during the season, you can opt to ride another horse and the points will continue to accumulate on the sold horse.
Please note this is NOT a recognized class by NBHA and is offered by the
WA NBHA.
INTENT:
The intent for the PeeWee class is to offer a class to our young kids that are just learning how to run barrels. This is in no way offered as a substitution for the Youth class which is a NBHA recognized class and is offered at all NBHA races. Any and all awards (if given) should be close to the same or the same for all contestants and should not be any better than the class (Youth) above it. Participants cannot cross enter between the PeeWee class and the Youth class.
RULES:
Each district may have their own rules regarding year end awards and if you must attend a certain number of races to qualify for the awards.
Please Note:
If as a parent, you feel your child should not be running in the Youth class, you are still welcome to attend any races and your child may run time only’s or you may put them on a different horse.
